Kazakhstan air carriers to be fined for any change in flight status

Astana. November 20. KazTAG – Kazakhstan air carriers will be penalized for any change in flight status.
“An amendment is being developed to amend Article 567 of the Code in terms of expanding the concept of air carrier liability for changing flight status. The new version provides for liability for any change in flight status. The measure will tighten the liability of air carriers for flight delays,” said Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov responded to a parliamentary inquiry.
The concept of “change in flight status” will include all types of changes: route changes, delays, and changes in departure times. It is also planned to amend Article 567 of the Code of Administrative Offenses by adding the wording “failure to fulfill or improper fulfillment by the carrier of its duties” when changing the flight status. The project is currently being discussed in the Majilis.
The Prime Minister believes that the delays are due to the increase in passenger traffic, as well as repairs at several airports in the country (Astana, Pavlodar, Aktau, Uralsk, Zhezkazgan, Balkhash). Also, if there is a security threat, the air carrier is obliged to eliminate it, and this leads to a delay.
