Tokmadi released from prison

Konayev. August 9. KazTAG – Businessman Murakhan Tokmadi has been released – the court granted his request for parole.
“By the ruling of the Konayev city court dated July 26, 2024, M. Tokmadi’s request for parole has been granted,” said the press service of the Almaty region court.
On December 19, 2004, the famous Kazakhstani banker Yerzhan Tatishev was murdered. Businessman Murakhan Tokmadi was sentenced to 10.5 years in prison in this case. He was recognized as the perpetrator of the crime, and the customer is believed to be the banker Mukhtar Ablyazov, who is hiding in France. On March 9, 2022, KazTAG published an open letter from Tokmadi to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in which the businessman stated that he was innocent and that people from the former chairman of the National Security Committee, Karim Massimov, forced him to confess to the murder.
