“Individual mobility devices – mopeds, scooters, etc. – are still gaining popularity in Almaty. But, unfortunately, when driving this type of transport, most of their drivers do not follow basic traffic rules or simply ignore them. Thus, they create emergency situations on the roads, which often lead to tragic consequences or injuries to people,” said Oralbek Akhimov, police colonel.
More than 19 thousand moped drivers were brought to administrative responsibility for violating traffic rules. More than 1.5 thousand vehicles were sent to impound lots.
