Weapons cache stolen during January 2022 events found in Taldykorgan

Taldykorgan. January 8. KazTAG – A cache of weapons stolen during the January 2022 events was found in Taldykorgan, reports the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“On January 5, as a result of operational work in Taldykorgan, in the area of the summer houses community under the bridge of the Karatal River, criminal police officers discovered a weapons cache, where a Kalashnikov assault rifle with 14 rounds and a Makarov pistol with eight rounds, which had been previously stolen during the January events, were seized,” the report said.
The criminal police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Kanat Nurmagambetov, crimes committed with the use of firearms pose a particular public danger, in connection with which the work to seize weapons from illegal circulation is carried out on a systematic basis and is under the special control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"Thus, following the measures taken since the beginning of 2022  police have seized 7877 units of various weapons, 816 grenades and over 110 thousand ammunition. In the past 2024, more than two thousand units of various weapons were seized from illegal circulation, including 1764 units of firearms and 274 units of traumatic weapons, as well as 87 grenades and more than 19 thousand ammunition of various calibers. In addition, 21 illegal weapons caches were discovered. Since the beginning of this year, this work has been actively ongoing, as a result of which 24 units of firearms have been seized," Nurmagambetov added.
