Vegetable prices will not drop even under a zero VAT rate - Ministry of Agriculture

Astana. February 12. KazTAG – Vegetable prices will not drop even under a zero value-added tax (VAT) rate for all agricultural producers, according to Aidarbek Saparov, Agriculture Minister.
“As for taxes, there will be a relaxation, but this is still being discussed. In any case, they (farmers – KazTAG) will buy fuel, seeds, fertilizers, and they all come with VAT, so there are questions. I will not say that vegetables will become cheaper because of this benefit, but they will most likely remain at the same level. But it depends on the technology,” Saparov said.
In his words, there are 300 thousand farms in Kazakhstan, of which only 18 thousand are legal entities for which tax breaks are planned, the rest are peasant and farming enterprises that have already been exempted from paying VAT.
