Two terrorists who fought in Syria convicted in Kazakhstan

Astana. December 23. KazTAG – Two terrorists who fought in Syria were convicted in Kazakhstan, reports the press service of the National Security Committee (NSC).
“The trials of criminal cases investigated by the National Security Committee against two citizens of Kazakhstan have been completed. In 2020-2022, they were members of terrorist organizations in Syria. As a result of operations carried out jointly with foreign partners, they were discovered abroad, brought home and arrested,” the statement said.
One of them, a resident of the Turkestan region, was found guilty of participating in the activities of a terrorist group (Article 257 of the Criminal Code), and the second, a resident of Atyrau, was convicted of committing a similar crime, as well as for undergoing terrorist training abroad (Article 260 of the Criminal Code).
