"If today cargo transportation through Kazakhstan's airports amounts to about 130 thousand tons per year, then it is realistic to gradually increase this volume to 300-500 thousand and up to several million tons per year due to domestic cargo companies and hub airports," Ospanov said in Majilis.
According to him, many aircraft cross the country's airspace. Attracting several percent of this volume will give a significant increase to domestic aviation. To do this, it is necessary to increase the carrying capacity, the country's air fleet and expand the airport infrastructure.
If national passenger carriers show significant progress, then airports cannot keep up with this growth. To build airports, considerable investments are needed in infrastructure.
There are only two sources for investment: capital, state or private, and loans.
The state, institutional investors, in the form of funds, private investors and banks give their money with the main condition - to return it with growth. This is possible only through profit, noted Osanov.
