Tokayev encouraged World Bank’s financing of $650 million TRACE project in Kazakhstan

Astana. December 4. KazTAG – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the World Bank financing of $650 million for the Transport Resilience and Connectivity Enhancement project in Kazakhstan, reports Akorda.
“On the sidelines of the Water Summit, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with World Bank Group President Ajay Banga. The head of state outlined the importance of Kazakhstan's strategic partnership with the World Bank. According to him, today five large projects with a total budget of $3.5 billion are being jointly implemented in the areas of water resources, transport and education. The President also welcomed the World Bank financing of the Kazakhstan project in the amount of $650 million as part of the Transport Resilience and Connectivity Enhancement program. The parties emphasized the strategic role of investments for the development of the Middle Corridor, in particular, for the repair of the Zhezkazgan-Karaganda highway,” said the statement.
Ajay Banga highly appreciated the level of interaction between the World Bank and Kazakhstan and confirmed the readiness to further expand cooperation.
