Saparov links rise in beef prices in Kazakhstan with demand from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan

Astana. February 12. KazTAG – Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov explained the rise in beef prices in Kazakhstan by demand from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
“Firstly, not all (cattle – KazTAG) were slaughtered. Secondly, not because of the drought. We faced a drought two years ago. You see how much grain cost was and how much it costs now. Fodder is very cheap, about T50 thousand. Here, the cost was affected by the fact that demand for meat came from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. They started buying, and at that moment our intermediaries also joined in, and started raising the price,” Saparov said at a government briefing.
According to the minister, the price of beef in the country is gradually stabilizing and there is enough meat.
"Price varies from T2700 to T3300 per kilogram. Somewhere around T3500 can be, depending on the part of the meat, pulp or on the bones," the head of the Ministry of Agriculture added.
