“Flights between Pavlodar and Astana have been restored three times a week, and between Almaty and Pavlodar – twice a day. We plan to complete the main work next year around October. The runway has not been repaired for a long time. It requires more than just repairs. We will not be able to certify it for receiving aircraft in 2026-27 if we do not reconstruct it. We will see whether planes will fly in the summer. It is clear that this is the season. But if we do not stop and do the reconstruction, we will not be able to accept any aircraft at all. It will not be certified in 2026, we were warned about this. This is a forced measure," said Asain Bayhanov , Akim of Pavlodar Region at a briefing at the Central Communications Service in Astana.
He also explained that the tender procedures for determining the contractor took a long time, then a legal dispute began between the winning and losing contractors. As a result, they signed a meditative agreement.
The customer - the Pavlodar Region Highway Administration - approved the runway repair plan. The main work is scheduled for next summer.
