Kazakhstan and Russia can increase bilateral trade turnover to $30 billion

Astana. November 28. KazTAG – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in an expanded format, reports the press service of Akorda.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highly appreciated the results of the talks held in a narrow format, during which a wide range of topical issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed.
“As for our cooperation, we came to a unanimous opinion and gave relevant instructions to the governments. We have a lot of work ahead of us. I should outline that our cooperation is developing in an ascending direction and has acquired irreversible dynamics. Our task is to ensure that this cooperation does not slow down, that trade between our countries is developing successfully, investment cooperation is deepening, and contacts in the humanitarian and educational spheres are also developing in an ascending direction,” said the head of state.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev outlined on the state of trade and economic relations between Kazakhstan and Russia. According to him, mutual trade is steadily growing, and there is a good opportunity to increase bilateral trade turnover to $30 billion in the near future. Positive trends also persist in the investment sphere.
“To date, 93 projects have been jointly implemented with a total investment of $18.3 billion, thanks to which more than 22 thousand new jobs have been created in Kazakhstan. Another 49 projects with an investment volume of about $29.5 billion with the potential to create more than 20 thousand jobs are on the agenda,” said the President of Kazakhstan.
Vladimir Putin said that interaction between Moscow and Astana continues to actively develop in all areas.
"Indeed, Kazakhstan is our strategic partner and reliable ally. When we discussed issues of cooperation in a narrow format, we paid attention to the problems that arise within the framework of our bilateral process. But the most important thing is that there is a desire to seek answers to all these questions and find them. I do not know of a single issue that we could not resolve together. With such an attitude, we will achieve great success. And the fact that Kazakhstan, under your leadership, is achieving impressive results also makes us very happy, because the volume of cooperation is increasing. Despite all the difficulties of today, this cooperation is only expanding, becoming interesting and mutually beneficial for both parties," the Russian President said.
