“In the presentation, you said that direct payments to Kazakhstan, as of the end of 2024, amounted to $11 billion. If I understood correctly, this is in the form of taxes. I divided it by 31 years that you have been present on the market, and we got payments of $355 million on average per year,” Barlybaev said, asking TCO CEO Kevin Lyon a question at a meeting of the Committee on Ecology and Nature Management on the development of domestic value and support for domestic producers under the Tengiz project.
According to him, he recently talked to Philip Morris and they “pay taxes that are about 5% higher than TCO.”
“How fair do you think the agreement between Kazakhstan and TCO is?” Barlybaev asked.
