“Kazakhtelecom JSC has completed the final procedures to complete the deal related to the sale of a mobile operator operating under the Tele2 brand. This is MTS LLP,” he said.
The initiative began to be implemented back in 2022 as part of the state program to demonopolize the telecommunications sector.
Before the deal, Kazakhtelecom owned two mobile operators: Kcell and Tele2. According to Musin, the sale of one of them is aimed at separating the companies, creating a competitive market, improving the quality of communication and ensuring fair tariffs for Kazakhstani users.
"As a result of this deal, three mobile operators operating in Kazakhstan will be separated from each other and, accordingly, will form a competitive market in Kazakhstan among mobile operators. This will improve the quality and establish a fair price for the services provided. Qatari investors will also bring innovations: new technologies, innovations to the acquired asset, thereby influencing the digital infrastructure and the formation of new services in Kazakhstan," said chairman of the board.
