Kazakhstan: There are no sanctions on Rosatom

Astana. January 31. KazTAG – The EU does not have a special position on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan. The decision is up to Kazakhstan, said David O'Sullivan, EU Special Envoy for Sanctions.
"No sanctions have been imposed on Rosatom. The issue is unresolved. The EU does not have a special position on this issue, since the Republic of Kazakhstan is an independent state and if they make a decision, they will make it independently. Which company and which country will build the nuclear power plant - such a decision remains with your country," O'Sullivan said at a briefing in Astana on Thursday.
At the same time, the special envoy added his personal opinion.
"Considering Russia's current policy, it is worth considering whether Kazakhstan wants to see it as its partner. Only this issue, and everything else remains under the jurisdiction of Kazakhstan," O'Sullivan said.
