APDC to inspect Beeline after reports of tariff increase

Astana. January 31. KazTAG — The Agency for Protection and Development of Competition (APDC) will inspect Beeline after reports of tariff increase in February 2025, BES.media reports.
“Beeline ( Kar-Tel), back in late December, announced an increase in its tariffs from February 2025. In this regard, the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition (APDC) began an investigation into the actions of the mobile operator,” reads the report.
APDC has requested documents from the operator to analyze the validity of the changes, and is also studying the dynamics of prices for communication services for 2024.
The media notes that in December 2024, APDC promised to check the prices of mobile operators for the year. But even in the annual report for 2023, the agency calculated that “with a decrease in investments, there is an increase in the volume of profits of cellular operators.” According to the data, for the first nine months of 2024, Beeline's revenue in Kazakhstan amounted to T303.5 billion ($662 million). This was 18% higher than in the same period of 2023.
