Joint seismic monitoring work between Kazakhstan and China to be organized in Almaty

Almaty. February 18. KazTAG – During the visit of Almaty Mayor Yerbolat Dosayev to China, the China Earthquake Administration and the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research of Kazakhstan have signed an agreement.
“During his visit to China, Almaty Mayor Yerbolat Dosayev visited the China Earthquake Administration (CEA). Almaty is located in a seismically active zone, so one of the key tasks of the city’s development program is to improve seismic safety. During the visit, an agreement was signed between the National Scientific Center for Seismological Observations and Research of Kazakhstan and the CEA Institute of Geophysics,” the statement said.
The document envisages joint work on seismic monitoring and the integration of early warning systems for earthquakes, which will allow specialists from both countries to promptly exchange data in real time.
There are already 28 early warning stations operating in Almaty, and it is planned to install other 70 stations. This year, 30 new stations are expected to be launched.
