Central Stadium in Almaty to be expanded to 32.5 thousand seats

Almaty. December 20. KazTAG – The Central Stadium in Almaty is promised to be expanded to 32.5 thousand seats.
"Next year, we will begin preparations for the reconstruction of the Central Stadium. It will have about 32.5 thousand (seats - KazTAG), we will expand it," said Yerbolat Dosayev, Almaty Akim, at a briefing at the Central Communications Service.
The stadium was built in 1958, and is currently designed for 23,804 seats. The Akim promises a closed stadium.
The day before, a match was held between Chelsea and Astana. Before the match, photos and videos of benches covered in ice and snow began to spread on social networks.
The Almaty Akimat apologized and announced that the manager of the Central Stadium, Bauyrzhan Zhumazhanov, was fired due to poor preparation for the match.
Dosayev added that a "concept" for the reconstruction is ready. The Central Stadium is currently in municipal ownership of the Directorate of Sports Facilities of Almaty.
