215 newborns were not vaccinated against tuberculosis in East Kazakhstan region

Ust-Kamenogorsk. January 15. KazTAG - 215 newborns were not vaccinated with the BCG anti-tuberculosis vaccine in the East Kazakhstan region, reports YK-news.kz.
"215 newborns were not vaccinated," said Saule Slyamgazina, deputy head of the sanitary and epidemiological control department of East Kazakhstan region. According to her, 8,306 children were born in East Kazakhstan region in 2024. 97% were vaccinated against tuberculosis.
At the same time, 120 children did not receive the vaccine due to temporary medical contraindications, 68 - due to parental refusal, and another 27 - for other reasons.
"Compared to last year, the number of refusals has decreased by 17%," added the deputy head of the department.
