“At the same time, I expressed my condolences to President Tokayev, since six citizens of Kazakhstan have died as a result of the disaster. He also expressed his condolences to me. Despite how tragic this event is, it was also a test. A test of how each side will behave in this situation. I am glad that, despite this tragedy, I see and I am sure that Kazakhstan has the same opinion. Our friendship and brotherhood have become even stronger after this ordeal,” Aliyev said.
Aliyev noted the work of Kazakhstani rescuers.
“We knew and received information that immediately after the incident; Kazakh rescuers quickly arrived at the crash site and began to evacuate people from the destroyed fuselage. They risked their lives, because they did not know whether the next explosion would occur or not. Part of the plane was burning, and another part could have caught fire. But despite this, they showed real heroism. At the same time, the work of the medical staff was very valuable. The injured passengers were immediately taken to medical institutions. For this, I also expressed gratitude to President Tokayev. The solidarity of our Kazakh brothers and sisters, as I know, left a deep mark in the hearts of the Azerbaijani people. Ordinary citizens came to our consulate in Aktau to lay flowers, express their attitude and solidarity with us. This is what true friendship and brotherhood are. At the same time, in a conversation with President Tokayev, I outlined Azerbaijan's position on the investigation and brought to his attention the points that I have already mentioned to you. We are in favor of conducting an international examination and in no case can we transfer this issue to the Interstate Aviation Committee. This position was received with understanding. Naturally, our representatives of state structures, members and heads of the commission, representatives of the prosecutor's office are in constant contact. Kazakhstan, in turn, also created a state commission, and President Tokayev informed me about this during the conversation. They are certainly also interested and are working to clarify all the circumstances of what happened," Aliyev added.
