Number of people leaving Kazakhstan reached minimum in history of independence

Astana. February 11. KazTAG - The number of citizens who left Kazakhstan for permanent residence decreased to a record minimum - about 12.8 thousand people in 2024, reports the statistics agency.
"In January-December 2024, about 12.8 thousand people left Kazakhstan for permanent residence in another country, which was about 20% less year on year. The current figure is the lowest for the entire period of independence, for the entire period since 1991," reads the report.
The flow of people arriving in the country for permanent residence has increased: in a year, Kazakhstan accepted more than 29.9 thousand people – 18% more than last year.
Thus, the migration balance (the difference between those who arrived and those who left) has remained positive for the second year in a row, amounting to 17.2 thousand people. The last time such an increase was observed was in 2006.
The majority of emigrants chose Russia (70%) and Germany (16%). Among those who arrived, the leaders were citizens of Uzbekistan (40%), Russia (27%), China (7%) and Mongolia (5%).
