Kazakhstan has begun drilling the first exploratory well at new oil field

Atyrau. January 9. KazTAG – Kazakhstan has begun drilling the first exploratory well at a new oil field.
“Embamunaigas JSC (a 100% subsidiary of NC KazMunaiGas JSC) has begun drilling the first exploratory well at the Taisoigan site in the Atyrau region,” reports KazMunaiGas.
The site is a series of supra-salt Mesozoic structures within the Caspian sedimentary basin.
"Drilling of eight structures with a depth of 400 to 3,800 m is planned by the end of 2025. The facilities were prepared for drilling based on large-scale 3D seismic exploration in the amount of 5,600 square kilometers. All subsoil use operations are carried out by Embamunaigas JSC in strict accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and environmental requirements," reports the national company.
KMG stated that geological exploration projects are aimed at finding hydrocarbons and increasing the country's resource base.
"Their implementation is of particular importance in regions with mature fields, where natural depletion of reserves is observed. Drilling exploratory wells in the Taisoigan area is an important stage in strengthening the energy potential and economic stability of the Atyrau region,” the company said.
