Governments of Kazakhstan and Russia signed agreement on construction of coal-fired thermal power plants

Astana. April 17. KazTAG – The governments of Kazakhstan and Russia signed an agreement on the construction of coal-fired combined heat and power plants, reports the press service of the Prime Minister.
“Today, at the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an agreement was signed between the Ministries of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation on cooperation on projects for the construction of thermal power plants in the cities of Kokshetau, Semey and Ust-Kamenogorsk,” reads the report.
The parties identified authorized organizations represented by INTER RAO – Export LLC and Samruk-Energo JSC.
“The implementation of three new thermal power plants in three regional centers - Semey, Kokshetau and Ust-Kamenogorsk, taking into account the extensive reserves of thermal coal, will give a powerful impetus to their further development,” said Almasadam Satkaliyev, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan.
