Eight people convicted of extremism and propaganda of terrorism in Akmola region


Astana. April 30. KazTAG - Seven citizens of Kazakhstan and one foreigner have been convicted of extremism and propaganda of terrorism in the Akmola region, reports the press service of the National Security Committee.
“The National Security Committee has completed a criminal investigation against seven citizens of Kazakhstan and one foreigner on the facts of organizing and participating in the activities of a religious extremist organization, as well as propaganda of terrorism. The investigation revealed that the convicts spread ideology among those around them, instilled hatred of the secular way of life and the constitutional system,” reads the statement.
During searches at their places of residence, a significant amount of religious extremist literature and other material evidence were confiscated.
In fact, three of the convicted persons had already been previously convicted of committing similar crimes.
“The military court of the Akmola garrison sentenced them to eight years imprisonment,” the statement said.
