Foreign tourists are almost nine times more profitable than local tourism in Kazakhstan

Almaty. September 27. KazTAG – Foreign tourists are 8.7 times more profitable than local tourism in Kazakhstan, report the press service of the Akim of Almaty.
“The expenses of foreign tourists exceed the expenses of domestic tourists by 8.7 times,” reads the citing the Almaty Tourism Bureau.
According to the information, an analysis of data from the Bureau of National Statistics and the analytical platform Mastercard, the main contingent of foreign tourists are men aged 26-35, traveling both with friends and alone. Foreign tourists prefer cultural events and ecotourism, with 42% choosing hotels for accommodation. On average, they spend five days in Almaty and spend about $334 per day.
Domestic tourists, mostly young men aged 18-25, most often visit relatives and prefer hostels. Their average expenses are $38 per day, and the length of stay is two days.
Also, in the first half of 2024, the number of tourists visiting Almaty increased by 10.1%, amounting to 1,070,358 people. Significant growth is observed in the segment of foreign tourists, whose number increased by 15.6% compared to 2023.
