“We have already started the search for a third site for building a nuclear power plant. The state commission had identified two sites. Balkhash - there is an opportunity to place up to six units there. Kurchatov, other sites are promising. We will study everything. We will also consider Aktau. Perhaps, we will look at some growth centers. Depending on the technology. We will look at both Eastern and Western Kazakhstan, of course. We are still looking there,” Satkaliyev noted.
The minister also noted that depending on the type of technology, nuclear power plants can be located anywhere.
“There are no longer such requirements for the presence of a large open reservoir, there is an opportunity to use dry cooling. Therefore, we will proceed from the topography of the electrical network, from the load center, based on the safety of the placement of a particular energy facility,” he added.
