Construction of Shymkent Airport Terminal suspended due to lack of land

Shymkent. February 8. KazTAG - The construction of the Shymkent airport terminal has been suspended due to lack of land, vera.kz reports.
“Construction of the new Shymkent airport terminal has stalled due to lack of land. The investor has nowhere to build an apron, without which the terminal cannot function. The territory, on which the platform and telescopic ladders were planned to be built according to the project, belongs to the old airport. They started when the akimat of Shymkent decided to put the old airport up for auction. True, in the conditions for bidding it was written that the buyer must have five years of experience in managing the air harbor and, moreover, give 6 hectares of apron land to the investor who is building a new terminal,” reads the message.
The potential buyer did not agree with such terms of sale. The court was on his side and recognized these tender conditions as restricting competition. Now the akimat of Shymkent is trying to prove its case in the Supreme Court. The trial is scheduled for February.
