Almost 3000 units of weapons were stolen during January events in Kazakhstan

Astana. February 4. KazTAG –2,960 service and civilian weapons were stolen during the January events in Kazakhstan, reports the official Internet source of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“During the mass riots, 2,960 units of service and civilian weapons were stolen,” said Shyngys Alekeshev, head of the department and official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
At the same time, over the past three years, about 8,000 units of firearms and traumatic weapons, 831 grenades, over 112 thousand rounds of ammunition of various calibers have been found and seized, and 722 caches of weapons have been found.
“As of today, the ownership of 1,226 units of weapons stolen during the January events has been identified. The criminals deliberately destroyed and erased the registration numbers of the remaining 6,765 seized weapons, and therefore appropriate examinations have been ordered for their identification,” Alekeshev added.
