Suspect in 2022 drug trafficking case extradited to Kazakhstan from Turkey

Astana. November 14. KazTAG - A suspect in a 2022 drug trafficking case has been extradited to Kazakhstan fr om Turkey, reports the Prosecutor General's Office.
"Employees of the Prosecutor General's Office and Interpol of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, extradited a citizen of Kazakhstan from Turkey to be prosecuted for illegal possession for the purpose of selling analogues of psychotropic substances in especially large quantities," the report said.
As specified by the supervisory authority, in December 2022, during operational and investigative activities in Astana, 17 sachets of methcathinone in an especially large amount were found and seized from him.
“After committing the crime, the suspect fled, and was therefore put on the international wanted list. In October, the offender was detained in the city of Antalya, from wh ere he was subsequently extradited to Kazakhstan. Currently, the suspect has been placed in a pre-trial detention facility. The punishment for committing the incriminated crime is imprisonment for a term of 10 to 15 years, with confiscation of property,” the Prosecutor General’s Office added.
