Ministry of Emergency Situations commented about a dam in the Almaty mountains: There is threat to about 30 thousand residents

Almaty. April 12. KazTAG - In the situation with the dam in the Aksai basin, the lives of about 30 thousand residents of Almaty are under threat, a criminal case has been opened, reports the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
“The Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chingis Arinov, during the inspection of the mudflow-retaining dam in the Aksai basin, identified certain violations related to the failure of the contractor to fulfill obligations for the construction of the facility (there is a threat to the lives of about 30 thousand residents of Almaty),” reads the statement.
In this regard, Arinov raised a question with the management of Kazselezaschita regarding the transfer of relevant materials to the financial monitoring agency for making a procedural decision.
“Based on the results of the review, a criminal case has been opened and an investigation into the theft of budget funds is underway against the responsible persons of the contractor,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.
