“The first section of the new LRT (light rail transit) system is planned to be built by 2027. It will run along Momyshuly, Tole bi streets and Raiymbek Avenue to the eastern border of the city,” said Alexander Ovanesov, partner of the Future of Mobility company.
According to plans, by 2030, 42 transport corridors with a length of about 300 km will be created in the city. The existing metro line will be extended to the western border of Almaty. The [plan also includes expansion of passenger infrastructure to 1245 stops from the existing 1208.
