Lessons shortened due to time zone change in Kazakhstan: children will study in summer

Astana. November 6. KazTAG – After the time change in Kazakhstan, some schools shortened their lessons due to the early onset of darkness. The gaps in knowledge will be filled by summer schools, said Gani Beisembayev, Education Minister.
“This (reducing lesson time to 40 minutes – KazTAG) is not everywhere. (…) If such decisions are made, the 5 minutes that were not implemented during the holidays or summer should be made up (…) It often concerns the eastern region of our country. Therefore, it was recommended, if there is an urgent need, where schools have three shifts. In particular, in Pavlodar, such decisions were made in seven schools. All the same, this should be replenished later, because the school should not steal the time allocated for education for our children," Beisembayev said.
He recalled that Kazakhstani schools already had such an experience during the pandemic.
