Kengir Reservoir taken away from Dutch company controlled by oligarchs Kim and Ogay

Zhezkazgan. February 21. KazTAG – Kengir Reservoir, transferred to the balance sheet of Kazakhmys Distribution, has been returned to the state, said the press service of the Ulytau regional prosecutor's office.
“One of the assets of the Ulytau region, as well as the main regulator of water for energy and irrigation, is the Kengir Reservoir. The reservoir, built in 1952 (319 million cubic meters) and its hydraulic structures are strategic objects, which means they should be in state ownership. At one time, they were transferred to the balance sheet of the city-forming enterprise Kazakhmys Distribution LLP. To return them, the regional prosecutor's office filed a claim to the Minister of Water Resources. In pursuance of the prosecutor's supervision act, a donation agreement was concluded and an act of acceptance and transfer of the facility was signed," the report said.
Now the authorized bodies are faced with the task of conducting a multi-factor survey of the reservoir and its hydraulic structures, in order to take further measures to modernize them.
According to Kompa, a service for the reliability of counterparties in Kazakhstan, the founder of Kazakhmys Distribution is the Dutch-registered company KCC B.V., which, according to open data, is controlled by oligarchs Vladimir Kim and Eduard Ogai.
