“The attack by Ukrainian drones on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium station is an open and direct attack against the interests of our country. It seems that when planning this openly unfriendly action, the Ukrainian side was well aware of the strategic importance of the CPC for transporting Kazakhstani oil,” he wrote in his post on Facebook.
Bashimov also added that it is necessary to understand that the raid on the CPC is an attack on a major international facility that belongs to an entire consortium and unites, among other things, the largest American and European companies.
"And here we see the duality of the position of the Ukrainians, who, on the one hand, demand military and other assistance from the United States and Europe, and on the other, strike at their economic interests," the Majilis member added.
According to him, the reason for such aggression against Kazakhstan is unclear, because Kazakhstan has maintained a neutral position since the very beginning of the conflict, supports a peaceful settlement and maintains diplomatic contacts with Ukraine. He also recalled that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev openly declared its non-recognition of the DPR and LPR, and Kazakhstan offered to act as a platform for negotiations with an invitation to UN representatives.
"In this regard, the political damage to Kazakh-Ukrainian relations from the strike on the CPC is obvious. It is necessary that Kazakhstan demand direct explanations from Ukraine for actions against the interests of our country. We must also take the most stringent and principled measures to bring those responsible to justice for the attack on an international facility,” concluded Marat Bashimov.
