"I exclude application of military response to sanctions in the modern world. We are a responsible state and a permanent member of the UN Security Council. These issues are in the competence of supreme power of the state. It is a question of the President of a state. There are different response forms in the world, including asymmetric. Not necessarily military actions," said Dmitriy Medvedev, Prime Minister of Russia, answering the question of a European journalist.
"We understand, for example, that the degree of integration and mutual involvement of the Russian and American economies is very small. From the fact that the Americans declare sanctions against our country, American business does not suffer much as we have a small volume of trade," he said.
But European business, he said, is suffering greatly, because Russia and the European Union (EU) have “a huge volume of trade”.
