"Our observers were present at 99 voting stations throughout the state. The majority of them were in Almaty (38) and Nur-Sultan (27). By the results of the election I can say that our observers faced pressure at 39% voting stations: they were not allowed to approach the desks of the commission closer than 5 m, our observers were dismissed at three stations in Nur-Sultan, there was one attempt in Pavlodar," she said.
Vasilina Atoyants, executive director of Youth information service of Kazakhstan, added that there were also other violations in respect of the observers.
"While counting the votes at one voting station in Nur-Sultan the commission declared "boycott" to the observers: they were not allowed to stand up, approach the desk, finally they called police and our observer was taken to the police department. Later he was released without any protocols. We are going to file a complaint to the prosecutor's office," she added.
