"Dissolve Milli Medjilis of Azerbaijan of the 5th convocation. Schedule extraordinary election of Milli Medjilis of Azerbaijan on February 8 2020," reads the decree.
Deputies from the ruling party Eni Azerbaijan (New Azerbaijan-KazTAG) had called to dissolve the Parliament. They believe the new elections will support the reforms of the head of states, transformation of the legislative power and renew the composition of the Parliament. The initiative was encouraged by independent and oppositional politicians.
