National Bank negotiating with shareholders of problematic banks criticized by president- Akishev

Astana. April 27. KazTAG - The shareholders of problematic banks of Kazakhstan are interested in preservation of their financial institutions and conducting negotiations with them, said Daniyar Akishev, chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
"The negotiations with the shareholders of these financial institutions are under way. The shareholders are interested to keep their financial institutions and are taking necessary measures. As a supervisory body we must check how much of such efforts are enough for the financial institutions to keep their activity," he said on the sidelines of the Senate.
He said the president was clear about the situation in some banks.
"In my opinion there was a distinct call to the shareholders of these institutions, to the management, that first of all they must be interested in stability of their financial institutions. In these conditions we are negotiating with the shareholders of these banks, so that they can develop a plan of arrangements, take certain measures to support liquidity of these banks and provide financial stability of these financial institutions," he said.
