Food prices changed in flood-affected regions of Kazakhstan

Astana. April 23. KazTAG – Food prices have changed in flood-affected regions of Kazakhstan, reports the government press service.
“A decrease in the average price index for socially important food products  has been observed in eight regions, in six – at zero. Some price increase was observed in Aktobe (0.8%), Mangistau, West Kazakhstan (0.2%), Atyrau, Karaganda and Abay regions (0.1%),” said Aizhan Bizhanova, First Vice Minister of Trade and Integration.
There is a decrease in the cost of onions (-2.6%), sunflower oil (-1.6%), buckwheat and chicken eggs (-1%), rice (-0.5%), horns (-0.2%) .
An increase in the average price index for beef was recorded (0.6%).
“This is due to a short-term increase in the cost of the product in the Aktobe region, where suppliers were unable to deliver meat to all distribution points in a timely manner,” the authorities explain.
