“Over the first 10 months of 2024, the volume of shipments along the TCITR corridor increased by 68% to 3.8 million tons. Container shipments increased 2.7-fold to 46.3 thousand TEUs. Especially container shipments from China, which increased 25-fold,” indicates Karabayev’s speech at a government meeting on the development of the railway industry and transit potential.
A network of Kazakhstan terminals is being built along the corridor: in addition to the terminal in Xi'an, a Kazakhstan terminal has been launched in the port of Poti. Together with the Chinese company Lianyungang Port, construction of a container hub has begun in the port of Aktau. In the port of Kuryk, Abu Dhabi Port is building a multifunctional terminal "Sarzha". The construction of a terminal in the European part of the corridor is being developed.
Additionally, in 2024, an agreement was reached with China to increase the number of container trains - from 400 to 3 thousand per year: in 2025 - 600 trains, in 2027 - 1 thousand, in 2029 - 3 thousand trains, Karabayev added.
