Askar Akayev to arrive in Bishkek

Almaty. August 3. KazTAG - Former President of Kyrgyzstan Askar Akayev, who left the country after the Tulip Revolution in 2005, will arrive to Bishkek, Kaktus.Media reported.
“On August 2, Askar Akayev will fly to Bishkek with his son Ilim,”reads the statement.
As noted, Akayev has not been to Kyrgyzstan since he fled the country in 2005. Ilim Akayev visited Bishkek several times, including in 2014 for the funeral of his uncle (Askar Akayev's older brother).
“A number of criminal cases have been initiated against members of Akayev’s family and his circle. More than 30 criminal cases were initiated on the activities of the Meerim foundation headed by his wife Mairam Akayeva, the damage caused to the state by them amounted to 64 million soms, ” said the report.
