West Kazakhstan region is under freshets threat - Department of Emergency Situations

Almaty. February 15. KazTAG - Several districts of the West Kazakhstan region and Uralsk are under the threat of freshets, reports Uralsk week with a reference to the department of emergency situations of the region.
"Freshets situation is complicated. Talinsk, Kaztalovskiy, Zhanybekskiy, Baiterek and administration of Uralsk are under the threat of floods," said Zhasulan Dzhumashev, head of department of emergency situations of the West Kazakhstan region.
855 mln tenge have been allocated for prevention and consequences liquidation.
"A part of the funding went on the situation analysis. For instance, space monitoring cost 6.5 mln tenge," he said.
The volume of snow is 2-3 times higher than the norm.
The enhanced preventive measures do not guarantee no freshets.
"About 14 000 people live in the summer houses, including 5000 children. In case of freshets they will be evacuated," he added.
