The White House press secretary Sarah Sanders was asked at a press briefing to comment on the statement of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Korea, cited by the Yonhap news agency, that Washington and Seoul decided to postpone the joint military exercises of Ulchi Freedom Guardian planned for August.
"Negotiations on this matter at this stage continue. As long as North Korea continues to act in good faith, as we saw it in Singapore, we expect these things (joint exercises) to be paused," she said.
"The Pentagon also confirmed on Monday that the United States and South Korea decided to postpone joint military exercises planned for August on the Korean Peninsula," said Defense Department spokeswoman Dana White.
"In accordance with the obligations of the President D. Trump and in conjunction with our ally the Republic of Korea, the US Armed Forces suspended military exercises scheduled for August (Ulchi Freedom Guardian), which are of a defensive nature," she said.
