“In order to ensure transport accessibility of the coast of the Lake of Alakol, the Akimat of the Urjar region of the East Kazakhstan region, since last year, has been implementing a project for the reconstruction and lengthening of the runway, as well as the installation of light-signaling equipment at the airport of the village of Urjar. Funds for the implementation of the project in the amount of KZT4.7bn have been allocated through the Employment Roadmap, ” said the report.
The project is planned to be completed by the end of this year. It should be noted that major repairs of the runway at Urdjar airport have not been carried out since the start of its operation in 2008. Delaying the timing of the reconstruction may affect flight safety.
“After modernization, the airport in the village of Urjar will be able to receive modern jet and turboprop aircraft Embraer 190, Bombardier Q-400, CRJ-200, including at night. This will increase the flow of tourists by air to the shores of the Lake of Alakol in the next summer seasons,” said the report.
