According to the tourism department of Almaty region, a general plan of touristic-recreation zone-Balkhash has been developed and approved.
The territory will be formed of seven functional zones which consist of several complexes. The zone will accept up to 2.5 mln tourists per year.
Reconstruction of the motorway to Balkhash lake 141 km long has been initiated.
12.5 thousand people were accommodated in the area in 2017, 9.4% up in comparison to 2016.
