Tokayev met with Putin

Astana. July 4. KazTAG - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, reports Akorda.
During the talks, Tokayev expressed his gratitude to Vladimir Putin for participating in the SCO summit, and also noted Russia’s significant contribution to strengthening the “Shanghai spirit” and developing multilateral cooperation between the Organization’s member states.
“The chairmanship of the SCO is a very honorable, but at the same time responsible mission. Tomorrow I will report on the work that was carried out under our chairmanship. The Organization itself is being reformed, although this is not an easy task. The SCO has gained the authority in the international arena. In my opinion, this is one of the most successful international organizations. In addition, it is inherently democratic; the principle of equality of all states is respected here. I’d like to emphasized Russia’s enormous contribution to strengthening the SCO’s potential. In this regard, as chairman, I would like to express my gratitude to you,” said the president.
The head of state also spoke about the current state and prospects for the development of Kazakh-Russian relations of strategic partnership and alliance.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that after Vladimir Putin’s historic visit to Kazakhstan in November last year, bilateral cooperation has been developing along an ascending line.
The head of state invited Vladimir Putin to pay a state visit to Kazakhstan this fall, combining it with participation in a meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
