On April 14, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the law “On amendments to ensure women’s rights and children’s safety.” On June 14, the law came into force.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of cases of domestic violence is decreasing every year, but not so significantly.
Calls to the police regarding domestic violence:
in 2020 – 179,096;
in 2021 – 155,177;
in 2022 – 115,526;
in 2023 – 99,026;
for 4 months of 2024 – 28,189.
Number of criminal offenses in the domestic sphere (causing grievous bodily harm and murder): in 2020 – 1071 in 2021 – 1022 in 2022 – 935 in 2023 – 923.
