Retirees traveling to their relatives in Russia turned out to be the main coronavirus carriers in North Kazakhstan region

Petropavlovsk. October 23. KazTAG - Retirees traveling to their relatives in Russia turned out to be the main carriers of coronavirus infection  in the North Kazakhstan region.
“Over the past week, out of 58 imported cases of coronavirus, 38 accounted for people aged over 65  who arrived from the border regions of Russia,” said Tatyana Gorlova, deputy head of the department for quality control and safety of goods and services.
She said that representatives of this age category are much more active than before, they began to use the opportunity to travel to Russia once every 30 days to visit children and grandchildren living there.
“They do not think about the consequences, even people aged 87-90 years old, they come back infected, and this makes their life very difficult," she said.
In her words, the age range of patients with coronavirus in the region has recently changed upward.
“Previously there was a large percentage of sick people among people 40-50 years old, today more than a quarter of patients (26%) are representatives of the 65+ category, another 20% are people aged 50-59,” she added.
