Polish presidency of EU council to fight sanctions circumvention against Russia

Astana. January 27. KazTAG – The Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union will fight the circumvention of sanctions against Russia and Belarus, said Michal Labenda , Chargé d'Affaires of the Polish Embassy in Kazakhstan.
"In very general terms, the foreign policy agenda of our presidency will focus on three areas: maximizing support for Ukraine, maintaining the current policy towards Russia and Belarus, and strengthening the security and resilience of the EU and its partners. We will seek to maximize the EU's political, military and financial support for Ukraine. (...) We will seek to strengthen EU sanctions against Russia and Belarus and improve methods to counter their circumvention," Labenda said at a press conference at the EU Delegation.
Poland will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 January to 30 June 2025. The Presidency will support activities that strengthen European security in seven dimensions: external, internal, information, economic, energy, food and health.
The Polish Presidency will also strengthen economic cooperation with partner countries and take steps to expand cooperation with the Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan) and Azerbaijan.
