Number of jury trials has doubled in Kazakhstan

Astana. October 21. KazTAG – The courts of Kazakhstan have considered twice as many cases with the participation of jurors in the first nine months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, reports the press service of the Supreme Court.
“The speaker reported a doubling of the number of criminal cases considered by jurors in connection with the expansion of their jurisdiction,” reads the report.
During the reporting period, the number of authorized cases of house arrest using electronic bracelets also increased fourfold - from 68 people in 2023 to 263 detainees in 2024. At the same time, reconciliation was achieved in 42% of civil cases.

In addition, the number of errors in land, housing and labor disputes, as well as in cases related to insurance payments, has significantly decreased in the courts. The reform of the judicial system led to an increase in administrative claims by 3.3%.
