No cases of Lanya virus infection recorded in Kazakhstan

Astana. August 10. KazTAG - No cases of Lanya virus have been recorded in Kazakhstan,  reports the Interdepartmental Commission Prevention of Coronavirus Spread.
“No cases of Lanya virus have been recorded in Kazakhstan,” reads the message.
For the first time the Lanya virus was discovered four years ago as a result of a genomic study.
“Later, in two years, the same virus was found in another 35 people in two provinces of China. The patients had the following symptoms: fever, fatigue, cough, myalgia, nausea, headache, lack of appetite. It is a zoonotic infection, that is, people become infected with the virus from sick animals. Antibodies to the virus were detected in pets - goats and dogs. In the wild, the virus was found in shrews,”reads the report.
According to scientists, Lanya is similar to the Nipah virus, the lethality of which is estimated at 40-75% of the number of infected and for which there are no drugs and vaccines. However, no deaths have yet been recorded among those infected with the Lanya virus.
